Functional Analyst – Luxembourg

We are looking for an experienced Functional Analyst to support business and technology initiatives within a complex financial services environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with business and IT stakeholders, taking requirements from initial analysis through functional definition, system impact assessment and testing. This role would particularly suit someone comfortable working across multiple systems and applications and translating business needs into clear, structured requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyse and document business requirements, including BRAs and BRDs.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand processes, requirements and expected outcomes.
• Assess the impact of requirements across the IT architecture and wider application landscape.
• Translate business needs into clear functional and system requirements.
• Produce User Stories within Agile environments and formal functional documentation such as SRA, SRS and FRD within Waterfall environments.
• Coordinate the communication, review and validation of requirements with business and technical stakeholders.
• Support the full functional lifecycle from initial analysis through to implementation and testing.
• Define appropriate testing strategies based on business and system requirements.
• Prepare detailed test plans and test cases.
• Execute functional testing and support wider testing activities.
• Monitor testing progress, manage issues and provide clear reporting to stakeholders.

Experience & Skills

• Strong experience as a Functional Analyst / Business Systems Analyst within a complex IT environment.
• Proven ability to gather business requirements and translate them into structured functional and system requirements.
• Hands-on experience writing User Stories and working within Agile delivery environments.
• Good understanding of system and application dependencies and the ability to assess the impact of change across multiple applications.
• Strong experience across the testing lifecycle, including test strategy, planning, test case creation, execution and reporting.
• Strong stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to work effectively between business and IT teams.
   

Additional Advantageous Experience

The following would be beneficial but are not all mandatory:

• Experience working on data-related projects.
• Strong SQL skills.
• Good understanding of data models, data relationships and data catalogues.
• Knowledge of fund distribution and/or asset management.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can combine strong analytical skills with a practical, hands-on approach. You should be comfortable understanding complex business requirements, identifying their impact across systems and applications, producing clear functional documentation and remaining involved through the testing and delivery stages.
