Java Software Developer

About the Role

Our client is a leading international financial services organization that develops technology solutions supporting the processing and management of investment transactions. They are looking for a Java Software Developer to join an Agile development team responsible for a business-critical order routing platform within the investment funds industry.

The platform has been in production for many years and is continuously evolving through modernization initiatives. It consists of multiple Java-based modules running on WebLogic, JBoss EAP, and standalone Java environments, with Oracle Database deployed on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The application leverages modern technologies including Spring Boot, Angular, REST APIs, and message-driven processing using Oracle Advanced Queuing. The team follows Scrum methodology and uses Git, Jira, Maven, and Jenkins to support continuous integration and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Java applications.
• Contribute to the modernization and enhancement of a large-scale order routing platform.
• Develop scalable backend solutions using Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
• Build and maintain REST APIs and support message-driven application components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of experience developing enterprise Java applications.
• Strong Java programming skills.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Framework, including Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data, and Spring Integration.
• Experience working with SQL databases.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Oracle Database and PL/SQL.
• Knowledge of Angular.
• Understanding of UML and software design patterns.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools such as Git, GitHub, Jenkins, Maven, SonarQube, Artifactory, Jira, and IntelliJ.
• Experience writing Linux or Windows scripts (Bash, ksh, or PowerShell).
• Familiarity with JUnit, mocking frameworks, Playwright, or other automated testing tools.
• Experience with OpenShift or containerized application deployment.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
• Interest or experience in financial services, particularly investment funds or capital markets.
