Front Office Business Analyst (Investment Management)


Locations: London / Belfast / Ireland (flexible)
Type: Permanent (building a long-term BA team) — contract (min. 12 months) may be considered
Working model: Hybrid / on-site as required (client-dependent)

 

Overview

We’re hiring Front Office Business Analysts to support a growing portfolio of investment management change. This role partners with Portfolio Managers, Risk, Trading and Technology to deliver front-office enhancements, platform change and workflow optimisation across fixed income, equities and derivatives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage Front Office stakeholders to capture, document and validate requirements (discovery through delivery).
  • Translate investment concepts into clear user stories, functional specs, process maps and data requirements.
  • Analyse and improve front-office workflows (portfolio construction, risk analytics inputs, trade/risk processes).
  • Define test scenarios and support SIT/UAT, ensuring solutions meet front office needs.
  • Work closely with Technology and vendors to design solutions, manage dependencies and resolve issues.
  • Contribute to BA standards and best practice as part of a growing permanent team.

 

Required Experience & Knowledge

  • Demonstrable BA experience within asset / investment management environments.
  • Strong Front Office domain understanding across fixed income, equities and derivatives, ideally including:
    • Portfolio management & construction
    • Risk concepts: duration, tracking error, risk decomposition
    • Fixed income: bond coupon calculations, pricing/yield concepts
  • Strong stakeholder management, with ability to work effectively with senior front office users.
  • Solid BA toolkit: requirements engineering, user stories, process mapping, data mapping, testing support.
  • Experience working in Agile / hybrid delivery models.

 

Desirable Platforms / Tools

Experience with front office / risk / OMS platforms is highly valued, including (but not limited to):

  • MSCI Barra, Axioma, Bloomberg AIM (BBG AIM)
  • SimCorp Dimension and/or BlackRock Aladdin
    (Candidates familiar with these platforms are typically well-equipped to operate in a front office change environment.)
