Senior Fund Accountant (Jersey Funds)
The role of a Senior Fund Accountant in Jersey Funds involves handling various aspects of accounting and administration for investment companies, unit trusts, and limited partnerships, particularly focusing on private equity, property, and infrastructure funds. Below are the key responsibilities and qualifications required for this position:
Responsibilities:
1. Accounting and Financial Reporting: Prepare and oversee monthly/quarterly management accounts and annual financial statements following UK GAAP/US GAAP/IFRS/AUS standards for a portfolio of clients.
2. Compliance and Deliverables: Manage key deliverables according to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) or equivalent standards, ensuring compliance with client documentation, processes, and procedures.
3. Financial Calculations: Calculate management fees, carried interest, distribution amounts, and perform waterfall calculations.
4. Audits and Client Interaction: Handle year-end audits, respond to auditor queries, attend client meetings, assist in preparing proposal documents, and participate in pitches for new work.
5. Process Improvement and Knowledge Enhancement: Develop and implement procedures as needed, constantly seeking improvements, and staying updated with technical developments in the Fund industry.
6. Team Management: Coach, mentor, and manage staff following wider HR policies.
Must-have Qualifications and Skills:
1. Professional Qualification: Ideally ACA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
2. Accounting Proficiency: Ability to prepare final accounts from source documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
3. Task Management: Proven ability to prioritize effectively, work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, and see tasks through to completion.
4. Autonomy and Supervision: Capability to work unsupervised, while also supervising and reviewing the work of junior staff.
5. Communication and Presentation: Strong motivational, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-have Qualifications:
1. Professional Accounting Qualification: Further professional certifications would be advantageous.
2. In-depth Financial Knowledge: Familiarity with UK GAAP/US GAAP/IFRS would be beneficial, although training can be provided.
3. Industry-specific Knowledge: Understanding of private equity, property, and infrastructure funds is advantageous.
