DevOps Database Administrator - Contract - Prague, Czechia

Role Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Database Administrator with DevOps experience to contribute to the development and operations of critical infrastructure for 24/7 services in an agile working environment.


Create, tune, and manage databases running on various engines (MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL).
Collaborate with the Engineering team to enhance automation processes using Ansible for database administration.
Ensure secure, performant, and resilient database systems for 24/7 productive ecosystems.
Design migration strategies for databases in critical tech migration and datacenter migration projects (LogShipping, Replication, Failover, Clustering, Active/Active, etc.).
Handle daily operations of mission-critical database infrastructure.
Implement security baselines and proactively enhance security posture for database systems.
Propose innovative operational methods while demonstrating the benefits of new technological advancements.
Collaborate with technical teams across the delivery chain (development, application operations, networks, datacenter, SAN, global security).
Automate infrastructure delivery using industry-standard tools.
Create procedural documentation (Operational handbook).
Actively participate in agile team ceremonies.
Be part of the On-Call rotation.

Minimum Qualifications/Required Skills:

5+ years of experience in designing and administering MySQL, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL database engines for mission-critical environments, including HA and DR aspects and troubleshooting.
3+ years of experience in Linux system administration, including LVM, IAM, and RBAC.
A successful track record of collaborating with operations teams, network engineers, and developers.
5+ years of experience with automating DBA tasks (preferably via Ansible).
Strong communication skills.
