Test Engineer Specialist 
 

Role Overview

The Test Engineer Specialist will be responsible for overseeing quality assurance activities across projects and maintenance initiatives within a Front Office Lending environment. This role combines hands-on testing, documentation, requirements analysis, and quality governance responsibilities.

The Specialist will also ensure that quality standards are consistently maintained across day-to-day activities and that best practices are followed by all team members.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the implementation of projects and individual maintenance tickets
  • Analyse and document existing business rules within Front Office Lending systems
  • Gather, analyse, and document user requirements for new IT developments, including related reporting needs where applicable
  • Prepare comprehensive project documentation (business case, planning documents, detailed requirements, test documentation, etc.)
  • Design, execute, and oversee software testing activities across lending systems and impacted downstream systems
  • Develop and maintain structured test plans and test cases
  • Identify, isolate, document, and track defects through resolution
  • Provide first-line support and resolve end-user issues
  • Ensure quality standards, testing methodologies, and best practices are applied consistently across the team
  • Support continuous improvement of QA processes and testing frameworks

Mandatory Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Project Management, Business Management, or a related field
    • In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 11 years of equivalent professional experience may be accepted
  • Professional proficiency in English
 

Mandatory Experience

  • Minimum 11 years of experience in software testing and quality assurance
 

Preferred Experience & Competencies

  • Experience within financial services, insurance, or similar regulated environments
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies and experience with agile planning tools (e.g., Jira)
  • Proven experience designing and implementing test strategies and plans
  • Experience with functional testing and test automation scripting
  • Experience providing front-line user support in a financial institution
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills
  • High attention to detail and defect management expertise
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong collaboration and team leadership capabilities
