Consultant – Depositary Oversight Validation (Swedish Regulations)

We are seeking an experienced consultant to support the setup and validation of a new Swedish branch’s Depositary Oversight Framework. This role offers a unique chance to contribute to the establishment of a local control and monitoring model for Swedish-domiciled UCITS and AIFMD funds, ensuring it aligns with both regulatory requirements and market best practice.

You will play a pivotal role in validating and refining processes, ensuring they are fit for purpose in a start-up environment with high regulatory visibility and limited local staffing at inception.

What You’ll Do

As the lead consultant, you will:

Validate oversight processes covering key areas such as:

  • Investment compliance rules
  • Cash flow monitoring
  • Capital allocation controls
  • NAV oversight and valuation checks
  • Dividend distribution controls
  • Timely settlement of transactions
  • ESG and CSR-related monitoring
  • Safekeeping and recordkeeping obligations
  • Ensure robust client and regulatory reporting (regular and ad-hoc).
  • Oversee interactions with regulators, boards of directors, and prudential authorities.
  • Evaluate the adequacy of the outsourcing and support model.
  • Provide independent assurance on the operating model to strengthen local governance and oversight.

What We’re Looking For

  • In-depth knowledge of UCITS and AIFMD frameworks.
  • Proven expertise in Depositary oversight and fund operations.
  • Experience with regulatory engagement in the EU (Nordic experience highly valued).
  • Background in custody, compliance, or risk management within financial services.
  • Ability to work independently in a new branch/start-up environment.
  • Strong communication skills in English; Swedish is an advantage.
